Saudi Aramco raised the official selling price of liquefied petroleum gas in January by 1.6% from December, while Algeria’s Sonatrach reduced the official selling price of propane by 1.9% due to increased demand.
According to Reuters, Aramco increased the official selling price of propane by ten dollars to $620 per ton, while it also raised the official price of butane by ten dollars to $630 per ton.
Propane and butane are types of liquefied petroleum gas, but the difference between them is in their boiling point
LPG is mainly used as a fuel for cars and heating and as a raw material for other petrochemicals.
Sonatrach reduced its official price for propane for January by ten dollars per ton to $510, while its official price for butane stabilized at $540 per ton.
Aramco’s official LPG prices are used as a reference for contracts to supply the product from the Middle East to the Asia-Pacific region. Sonatrach’s official selling prices for LPG are used as a reference standard for the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and Turkey.
