‎10 countries in “BRICS Plus”, including Saudi Arabia‎

As of yesterday, five additional countries joined the BRICS group, namely Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the Emirates.

Four countries: Brazil, Russia, India, and China founded the group in 2006 under the name “BRIC.” Then South Africa joined the group in 2010, and the group’s name was changed to “BRICS” based on the first letters of each country’s name. It is expected that the amendment will be made after the new members to “BRICS Plus”.

BRICS includes countries with major and emerging economies, while the group represents about 23% of the global gross domestic product, 42% of the world’s population, and 16% of global trade.
