US economy added 199,000 jobs during November

US economic data released today, Friday, showed that the number of non-farm jobs increased faster than expected during November, while the unemployment rate decreased despite signs of weakness in the economy.

According to CNBC, nonfarm payrolls rose by a seasonally adjusted 199,000 last month, slightly better than expectations of 190,000 and compared to October’s 150,000 jobs.

The unemployment rate fell to 3.7%, compared to expectations of 3.9%, with the labor force participation rate rising to 62.8%. ‏

Average hourly wages, a key indicator of inflation, rose by 0.4% last month and by 4% compared to last year. The monthly increase was slightly higher than the estimate of 0.3%, but the annual rate was in line with expectations.
