The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli, said today that the value of water projects implemented in the Kingdom over the past eight years has exceeded SAR150 billion, including more than SAR 2 billion worth of environment developmental projects in the Northern Borders Region.
Al-Fadhli made these statements during his participation in the Ministerial session at the 2023 Northern Borders Investment Forum, inaugurated today by Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of the Northern Borders Region in Arar.
He highlighted the completion of the legislative framework for the Kingdom’s environmental system, designed to achieve a 95% waste recycling target by 2035, a significant step away from landfill waste. This underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable development, a core focus within Saudi Vision 2030. Additionally, he emphasized the existence of incentives and promising investment prospects in the environmental sector, particularly in the Northern Borders Region.
The minister also commended notable successes in managing water resources, resulting in record agricultural production valued at SAR100 billion in 2022. Leveraging advanced technologies, the agricultural consumption rate has been reduced from 86% to 70%, showcasing efficient resource utilization.
