Environment Minister Launches Executive Plan for National Forestation Program

The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, launched today the executive plan for the National Forestry Program, which falls within the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030 to preserve the environment and protect natural resources and plant 10 billion trees as part of the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI).

The launch of the program came after the Vegetation Center completed a detailed strategic scientific feasibility study that lasted two years to enable the Kingdom to achieve its goal of planting 10 billion trees, which falls within the Kingdom’s national and international commitment to addressing the environment and climate challenges and improving the quality of life of citizens through the economic and social gains which will be achieved from the forestation program.
