Today, a project to finance the city of coffee in the Al-Baha region, worth 72 million riyals, was signed in the presence of Prince Dr. Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Baha Region, and Eng. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
The contract, which was signed in partnership between the Agricultural Development Fund and the Agricultural Cooperative Society in Baljurashi, included financing the coffee city project in the region, which is the first of its kind in the Kingdom in coffee cultivation, at a value of 72 million riyals, and with a targeted production capacity of about 500 thousand trees. The project includes buildings, a factory, machinery, and means of transportation, in addition to coffee seedlings, production lines, an irrigation system, and a drip network.
Through the signing of financing contracts, the fund aims to support and develop various fields of agricultural activity and raise their production efficiency and sustainability by using the best modern technologies, as the fund believes in the role of cooperative societies in achieving the desired benefit for developing the agricultural rural sector in line with the objectives of the fund.
It also targets the Agricultural Cooperative Society in Baljurashi Governorate; Increasing the production capacity of promising crops with comparative advantage in the region, and developing the production, processing and marketing of Arabic coffee in order to achieve self-sufficiency, based on Saudi Vision 2030 and its various programs, as the Al-Baha region is one of the most important and most cultivated regions for coffee in the Kingdom.
Prince Hussam bin Saud noted the signing of the coffee city financing project in the region, which will be a nucleus for other cities such as mangoes, pomegranates and honey, noting that during the meeting with His Excellency Eng. Agriculture field
For his part, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture revealed that there are 20 investment opportunities that the region will witness, including cities for pomegranates, almonds and other agricultural products that Al-Baha is famous for, which are based on a comparative distinction for the region and lead to economic development and job creation for young men and women in order to achieve the Kingdom’s vision.
