Iranian Foreign Minister: We support Saudi Arabia to host Expo ‎‎2030 in Riyadh‎

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian announced Tehran’s support for holding Expo 2030 in Riyadh as it is expected to vote on the city that won the organization during next November. During the last period, the Kingdom was able to mobilize a group of international voices that support Riyadh’s organization of the Expo 2030.

On the other hand, Abdullahian confirmed that he held fruitful discussions in Riyadh, adding: “We value the Kingdom’s role in the region.” He said, “We can work with Saudi Arabia to resolve outstanding issues in the region immediately.”

He pointed out that Tehran supports achieving security and peace in the region without fragmentation

He also pointed out that relations with Saudi Arabia are moving in the right direction and witnessing progress. He stressed that his country is determined to develop and strengthen relations with Saudi Arabia

In addition, he indicated that there is agreement in the views between the two sides to activate the basic agreements, adding that Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi will visit the Kingdom soon.

He also thanked Saudi Arabia for its cooperation in facilitating Hajj and Umrah for Iranians

The Iranian foreign minister arrived earlier today in Riyadh on an official visit, the first since the severance of diplomatic relations between the two countries years ago.

It is noteworthy that the two countries had agreed on the tenth of last March, in Beijing, to resume diplomatic relations severed since 2016 and to reopen their diplomatic missions, in addition to activating the security cooperation agreement signed between them in 2001.
