The “X” platform, the new name of Twitter, allows its subscribers to the “blue mark” service to hide this mark from their personal pages, after the appearance of this mark has become embarrassing for a large number of platform users since Elon Musk acquired it.

Users of the social network can subscribe to the blue tick service for a payment of between 8 and 11 dollars, with additional privileges, including watching fewer ads, writing posts, uploading longer videos, and canceling or modifying a post.

Before Musk made obtaining the blue mark a paid service, this mark was free, especially for verified accounts.

It has become a source of embarrassment for users who do not want to disclose that they pay to the social network owned by the controversial billionaire, or those who are tired of receiving images of sarcastic memes addressing subscribers to the service.

According to Al-Bayan newspaper, the “X” website (https://help.twitter.com/en) said, “You can now choose whether you want to hide the blue tick from your accounts. It will be hidden from your personal pages or messages

Despite this, the blue mark may appear “in certain places, indicating that the user is subscribed to the service,” and some tools may be disabled as long as the mark is hidden, and this decision received many sarcastic comments.

“It’s insane that Musk has managed to turn this symbol of social status so desirable into something so shameful that people who pay to get it may want to hide it,” said Ross Magels, deputy editor-in-chief of the “Philadelphia Inquirer.”
