European statistics office, Eurostat, announced that the unemployment rate in the eurozone reached 6.4% in June 2023, the lowest level recorded since April 1998.
This percentage indicates the stability of the unemployment rate compared to May 2023, and a significant decrease compared to the rate of 6.7% in June 2022.
The unemployment rate in the European Union as a whole remained at 5.9 percent in June 2023, stable compared to May 2023, and less than 6.1 percent in June 2022, as the number of unemployed people in the European Union reached 12.8 million.
Statistics also indicate that Europe has witnessed a significant decline in unemployment rates since mid-2021, thanks to the strong economic recovery that followed the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, and the downturn that accompanied it.
