Saudi Arabia Signs TAC upon Saudi Leadership Directives to Strengthen Global Bridges of Communication

In the implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister to strengthen bridges of communication with all countries and support all aspects of joint coordination, including multilateral action, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah signed the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and chair of the current session of the Ministerial Meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

The Kingdom’s signing of the instrument of accession to TAC is an affirmation of its close ties in many fields with East Asian countries, and a continuation of the Saudi leading role in achieving international peace and security and promoting dialogue, boosting coordination, and consolidating multilateral action with all countries, toward further stability, prosperity and progress for all peoples.

The Saudi Foreign Minister praised the distinguished relations that bind the Kingdom with ASEAN countries and expressed the Saudi leadership’s keenness to expand cooperation between the Kingdom and ASEAN countries.

The Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of the TAC treaty, which is consistent with the principles of the UN Charter, and said that close relations with ASEAN member states are bound to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, strengthen joint action, and create new development and economic opportunities for all countries.
