US stocks closed higher on Thursday, regaining some momentum thanks to a rebound in technology stocks, with volatility dropping to record lows ahead of an eventful week related to the economy and monetary policy next week.
According to “Reuters”, investors are awaiting inflation data and the Federal Reserve (US Central Bank) meeting related to monetary policy next week.
According to preliminary data, the Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose by 26.14 points, or 0.61 percent, to close at 4,293.66 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 133.99 points, or 1.02 percent, to 13,238.89 points. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 168.76 points, or 0.5 percent, to 33,833.78 points.
