Uber turns to cloud computing for the first time ever

US IT company Oracle has announced a seven-year deal to provide cloud computing services to ride-hailing company Uber.

While Google announced a deal of its own, also for seven years, to help Uber modernize its cloud infrastructure.

Uber is for the first time moving its IT away from its data centers as it looks to cut costs and refocus engineering efforts, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Google is supporting the next phase of Uber’s growth with a range of solutions, including cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence.

Uber uses Google’s secure, reliable, and innovative technology to create new revenue streams and reimagine experiences for its users.
