Last year was the worst year ever for cryptocurrency due to hacking attacks, according to recent Chainalysis analytics.
According to “CNBC,” the report stated that cryptocurrency hackers stole $3.8 billion in 2022, up from $3.3 billion recorded in 2021.
October saw the highest number of cryptocurrency hacking attacks in a single month, with $775.7 million stolen in 32 separate attacks.
The most common stealing strategy
Decentralized finance protocols – otherwise known as Defi protocols – account for about 82%, or $3.1 billion, of all cryptocurrency piracy in 2022, according to the report.
The report indicated that the majority of cryptocurrencies were stolen from applications that allow users to transfer cryptocurrency between different groups of blockchains.
