The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) global food price index fell for the fifth consecutive month in August, further away from the all-time highs hit earlier in the year, as the resumption of grain exports from Ukrainian ports helped improve Supply prospects.
The FAO index, which tracks the most traded food commodities in the world, recorded an average of 138 points last month, compared to an adjusted level of 140.7 for the month of July.
The July number was previously set at 140.9.
