This came during his participation in the “Creating the Future of Mining” under the motto: What Can the Emerging Minerals Do to Become a Technology Front for the Industry, in the Future?”, within the sessions of the International Mining Conference.
Nazmi pointed out that the mining industry is not only a safe industry, but also can be a leading industry, that leads renewable and clean energy projects, indicating that NEOM has 4 leading sectors revolving around research, technology, artificial intelligence and renewable energy, calling on partners around the world to work together in the mining industry.
NEOM focus on the digital aspect, as it is a pioneering sector, and has, during the past months, achieved tremendous digital achievements that have transformed the mining industry and made it ready to be a clean industry, appreciating the qualitative leaps achieved, addressing the areas of technology and innovations, how to attract and create a green supply chain.
In addition to green hydrogen, NEOM has started with its partners, in ACWA Power, building facilities for green hydrogen, which is expected to open the first phase during 2025, in addition to establishing two centers: innovation and research, He explained.
Noting the Kingdom’s solar energy sources that can be used as a source in the supply chain for the mining sector, he added that such advantage would make it the largest supplier of renewable energy and clean energy.
Participants also talked about the development of the oil and mining sector in the Kingdom, the infrastructure of the 21st century, in the Kingdom, North Africa and the Middle East, and the creation of an infrastructure that works with modern technologies, that contribute to unleash a clean environmental impact.
Using green hydrogen, which is one of the solutions to eliminate carbon emissions, and the use of clean renewable energy, and the significance of research and innovation in the mining sector were visited too, addressing the necessity of investing, in the carbon and hydrogen economy.
