Prince-minister of Energy Presides over OAPEC 107th Ministerial Council Session

Headed by Prince-minister of energy Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), virtually held its 107th session, via video communication.

Opening the meeting, the Prince-minister welcomed the ministers, wishing them success in deliberating the topics on the meeting’s agenda, stressing the importance of cooperation between member states, in achieving the goals of the organization.

Then the Secretary-General of the organization, Ali Sabt expressed looking forward to continued support and back up from the member states, for the organization’s activity.

The council approved the minutes of the 106th meeting of the Organization’s held at the delegates’ level via video communication technology, on May 22, 2021, and approved the organization’s estimated budget project (General Secretariat and Judicial Authority) for the Year 2022.

The council expressed its appreciation for the tireless efforts made by the General Secretariat, in the framework of implementing the plan to activate and develop the activity of the organization, calling for the continuity of the efforts of the General Secretariat.

It also reviewed a report on the efforts made to activate the relationship between the organization and a host of Arab emerging companies, and the results achieved according to the action plan approved by the joint working group consisting of the General Secretariat and Arab emerging companies, including meetings between the two sides, the challenges facing the companies’ work and ways to overcome them, and the results achieved within the work plan approved by the joint working group.

For its part, the Executive Office of OAPEC has been assigned to coordinate with the Kingdom to work with the member states to contribute to activating the “Green Middle East” initiative, launched HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, in addition to working with member states; to adopt the implementation of the concept of circular carbon economy, as an approach that contributes to addressing carbon emissions, in an economically sustainable manner.

It concluded by deciding to include that item, in the national contribution of each member state, in line with the conditions, respective priorities, and to approve Qatar’s hosting of the 12th Arab Energy Conference, during the last quarter of 2023.
