Saudi Geological Survey Launches Initiative of National Geological Database

Saudi Geological Survey (SGS), under the patronage of Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef, launched the National Geological Database Initiative, envisioning contributing to realizing Saudi Vision 2030 in the mining sector.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs Khalid Al-Mudaifer and SGS CEO Abdullah Al-Shamrani attended the launching ceremony, too, according to SPA.
Author of the initiative Eng. Mustafa Makki presented a briefing on the initiative that is considered the cornerstone of comprehensive strategic initiatives for mining in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through collecting information related to SGS and the mining sector.
National Geological Database Initiative is concerned with offering geological regional information and making available for investors through the Internet via reviewing data and benefiting from them in the fields of studies and research, he stated, adding that in addition to providing detailed information and data on geological maps with various drawing standards, and detailed geophysical surveys on mining areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Such initiative would also contribute to knowing the detailed information about regional geochemical surveys for surface samples, digging samples and wells, he concluded.
