Over 250 Petitions targeting Economic Concentration, Lodged

More than 250 petition have been filed with the General Authority for Competition, against economic concentration, since the beginning of the year, in  a  record number in the authority history, according to an official spokeswoman authority.

It has issued as many as 131 no-objection rulings from the beginning of the year, with the first 103 purchases accounting for 79% of the total.

Joint ventures have followed with 15 projects, constituting 11% and mergers with another 13, representing 10% of the total.

Because the reporting requirements did not apply to 110 requests, the authorities classified them as non-compliant.

Authorities reviewed 137 petitions in 2020 and gave 49 non-objection rulings.
