The Chamber of Commerce, in the Qassim region, organized a meeting , in collaboration with officials of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, in the Kingdom, about the investment opportunities available, in the sector and the incentives provided by the commission to attract national capital, and encourage various aspects of partnerships, with the business sector and non-profit sectors, to achieve development goals and enhance the knowledge-based economy, to meet the aspirations and translate the aspirations of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The Deputy Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission for the Communications Sector, Eng. Abdullah Al-Mubadal, explained the positive indicators and successes achieved by the commission, in the past years, and its future vision, which aims to enable the Kingdom’s transformation into a digital society, indicating that the commission, as it recently launched a free local roaming service, in villages, in various regions of the Kingdom.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Qassim Chamber, Muhammad Al Hanaya, explained that the meeting, which targets businesspersons, in the Qassim region, aims to present the investment opportunities available to the commission, to stimulate, attract and encourage investment, in the telecommunications, information technology and postal sectors, and to identify current trends to benefit from them, in drawing up future development plans.
That is in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and to achieve the aspirations of sustainable urban development, stressing the chamber’s keenness on integration and harmony with various governmental, private and private sectors and institutions, and supporting efforts to enhance constructive cooperation that ensures the achievement of common goals.
The meeting revealed that the Kingdom’s market, is the largest in the Middle East, with the volume of the communications and information technology services market amounting to SR134 billion, and the Kingdom is among the top ten countries in the average mobile Internet speed, as the network covers 99% of the Kingdom’s populated areas, and the rate of penetration of services of mobile communications, at the population level is 136%, and the total valid commercial licenses and registrations have reached 349, and future expectations indicate that the market for information technology services and emerging technologies will grow to more than SR100 billion, by 2025.
