SABIC Calls for Effective Sustainable Value-creation Approaches

As the chemical industry moves towards greater presence, in the future of the world, companies in this field must place greater emphasis on safety and a commitment to better results, in responsible care.

This came in a speech delivered by SABIC Vice Chairman and CEO Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, before the industry leaders, during the fourth session of the GPCA Responsible Care Conference.

The challenges we face,  lies in adopting effective sustainable approaches, through which we create valule, in everything we do, he added.

Responsible care is an essential component of SABIC’s path to sustainability, a global initiative adopted by the chemical industry, with the aim of driving continuous improvement, in environmental, health, safety and security performance, and promoting the development and application of sustainable chemistry approaches.

Speaking at the 3-day conference, in Riyadh, starting from October 31, 2021, and in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Directors of GPCA, Al-Bunyan called on member companies to continue sticking to the principles of responsible care, saying: “We can do this through our cooperation on a radical development, in the our work.”

Al-Benyan praised the role and achievements of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) over the past fifteen years, stressing that the union is leading a new phase of transformation and is moving towards maximizing the returns of our industries, advancing its development and social impact, as well as  raising its standards to achieve sustainability goals.

It is worth noting that SABIC, a founding member of GPCA, which is the main partner of the event, held under the motto: “Seizing the Opportunities of the New Reality, in the light of Responsible Care”, and will continue until November 2, 2021.

It set to include a series of lectures, workshops and an accompanying exhibition, putting at avail the opportunity for participating companies to display their products and services.
