FIFA has disclosed the specifics of Saudi Arabia’s proposal to host the largest FIFA World Cup to take place in a single country. The unveiling was made following the official submission of Saudi Arabia’s bid book for the FIFA World Cup 2034 during a FIFA event in Paris on Monday. The official bid’s slogan, “Growing Together,” has garnered full endorsement from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and it outlines the extensive plans and infrastructure projects of Saudi Arabia while also reflecting the historic transformation of the Kingdom. The plan for Saudi Arabia involves 4 current venues, 3 new stadiums currently being built, and 8 planned new stadiums for the World Cup 2034. The country’s ongoing approach to the event includes renovating existing facilities, constructing new ones, and adding temporary infrastructure. HRH Mohammed bin Salman commented about the proposal, stating, “The bid is primarily driven by a commitment to growth – the growth of people, football, and global connections. Hosting the FIFA World Cup is a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s sports sector growth journey, which has seen remarkable progress and success in recent years.” Through hosting significant sports and entertainment events, Saudi Arabia is not only positioning itself as a tourist destination but also as a potential employment hub. The country’s substantial investment in sports constitutes only a small portion of the funds allocated to essential infrastructure, tourism, and emerging sectors.
When the 2034 Cup becomes active, the global attention paid to Saudi Arabia will encourage both international and regional companies to expand their interests in the country. As this takes place, Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030’s goals to raise the private sector’s contribution from 40% to 65% and increase FDI’s contribution to GDP from 3.8% to 5.7% will be in full swing and will promote further fiscal growth by the 2034 event. This occasion will transform Saudi Arabia into a worldwide business hub, offering numerous opportunities for partnerships, collaborations, and economic involvement. The international spotlight is already on Saudi Arabia for business tourism, with global businesses overcoming cultural differences and successfully entering the Kingdom. This trend is expected to grow even more between now and the 2034 World Cup and is expected to boost construction activity in Saudi Arabia, with significant developments such as modern stadiums, improved metro systems, and expanded airport capacity demonstrating the country’s readiness to host this global event. The construction sector, which is already the second-largest non-oil industry with more than 5,200 projects, is expected to flourish. These projects, totaling $819 billion, account for 35% of all active projects across the GCC. Supported by a government commitment of over 1 trillion riyals ($266 billion) for the next decade and the upcoming 2034 World Cup.
When the World Cup comes around, the occasion will transform the Kingdom into a worldwide business hub, offering numerous chances for partnerships, alliances, and economic involvement. Saudi Arabia’s successful selection as the host of the 2034 FIFA World Cup marks a significant economic and cultural achievement. The substantial investments in infrastructure, increase in tourism, and employment opportunities linked to the event offer multiple openings for job seekers. By matching skills with industry requirements and staying updated on current trends, individuals can prepare themselves to take advantage of the growing demand and contribute to the success of this global sports event. Being granted the privilege to host the FIFA World Cup 2034, the kingdom will become one of the widely viewed sporting events in history, promising unforgettable experience for all participants.
